As a Kindergarten teacher, I’m always on the lookout for hands-on, engaging resources that help my students grow both academically and developmentally. When I couldn’t find enough materials for the Festival du Voyageur that fit these needs, I decided to create my own activity bundle. Last year, I put together a set of activities that I was excited to test in my classroom. Unfortunately, I had to step away for surgery, but I was fortunate enough to have some fantastic teachers try them out in their classrooms, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive!

This activity bundle is designed to be fun, educational, and easy to implement in a Kindergarten classroom. It includes four activities that promote fine motor skills while also encouraging creativity and language learning in both French and English. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll find in the bundle:
Roll & Build: Students roll a die to determine which item on their card they need to build, using loose parts, playdough, or a combination of both. This encourages imaginative thinking while helping to develop fine motor control as students manipulate materials.
Pin Art: Students choose a picture from the card and push pins around the image to create a visual representation. This activity can be done on a carpet or corkboard, giving children a chance to practice precision while engaging with language through the images and words they pin.
Geometric Shape Building: Using geometry blocks, students recreate the images provided on the cards. This activity highlights the importance of geometric shapes in the creative process, allowing students to develop their spatial awareness and shape recognition.
Torn Paper Art: Students tear coloured paper into small pieces and glue them onto a picture, filling in the white space. This simple activity helps strengthen finger muscles and improve hand-eye coordination as students focus on tearing, gluing, and assembling the pieces.
Each activity is designed to integrate language development by encouraging students to say the words aloud as they engage with the materials. The fine motor skills these activities promote, from tearing paper to pushing pins, provide a great foundation for future academic skills.
The best part? Teachers found these activities easy to use with minimal prep. One teacher shared, “The students liked them, and there was minimal prep for me, which is exactly what I was looking for!” Another said, “My students loved using this resource. They were engaged, and it didn’t take a lot of prep work.”
It’s always great to hear how much the students enjoyed the activities. One teacher even said, “Fun and engaging activities to celebrate the festival! My students loved the geometry shapes.”

’m thrilled to be able to finally try these activities in my own classroom this year. The bundle is perfect for celebrating Festival du Voyageur while integrating fine motor skills and language learning.
